Foundation for the Tallest Passive House

ECD provided the support of excavation, deep foundation, and concrete foundation systems for One Third Avenue, a 725-foot, 62-story mixed-use tower developed by Alloy in Downtown Brooklyn. Upon completion, One Third Avenue is expected to become the tallest Passive House building in the world and one of the tallest buildings in Brooklyn, bringing more than 580 residential units, office space, and retail to the Alloy Block development.

ECD installed the support of excavation system, including soldier piles and lagging, underpinning, and more than 17,500 cubic yards of soil excavation. The deep foundation package included 97 structural CFA piles and 14 structural micro-piles designed to support the future tower. ECD also completed the concrete foundation package, including pile caps, footings, mat slabs, foundation walls, and waterproofing systems totaling more than 2,800 cubic yards of concrete.
