Secant Pile Walls
Secant Walls are overlapping (secant) concrete piles typically around the perimeter of a site to provide a groundwater cutoff and support of excavation. They are installed by drilling a temporary casing to design depth, cleaning the soil cuttings from the inside of the casing and tremie grouting with concrete. They are often used as the structural foundation wall for buildings. Steel beams are typically installed in every other pile for support of excavation and every pile when used for permanent foundation walls.
