Halletts Point Buildings 20 & 30 Foundations
ECD provided the support of excavation, excavation, and deep foundation systems for Buildings 20 and 30 at Halletts Point, a major waterfront development by The Durst Organization in Astoria, Queens. Located along the East River, the project required extensive rock excavation and deep foundation construction to support the future residential towers.
ECD installed a support of excavation system consisting of 450 one-meter diameter secant piles socketed into bedrock, reinforced with 90 hollow-bar tiebacks and a steel waler system. Following installation, crews excavated approximately 18,500 cubic yards of soil and removed 22,600 cubic yards of bedrock, reaching depths of up to 30 feet below grade.
To support the structures above, ECD completed 197 caissons with capacities up to 400 kips, providing a stable foundation system for this large-scale waterfront development.
