Soil Mix Walls

Soil Mixing is a process of mixing a cementitious grout with in-situ soils.  The compressive strength of the soil mix mass can increase with increasing injection rate and cement content in the grout.  Soil mix columns are installed by overlapping (secant) single, double, triple or quad mix paddles to depths of up to approximately 100-ft.  They are often constructed to provide an impermeable support of excavation wall or a below grade barrier to prevent groundwater flow.  Steel beams are typically installed in every other soil mix column to provide lateral support when used for a support of excavation system.
